Cause Of Migraines
There are a lot of different factors which have been pointed at as being the cause of migraines; however, there is as yet no consensus on what can bring about this debilitating ailment. There are some dietary factors which are generally agreed can be triggers, particularly MSG and caffeine. Avoiding these triggers can help to reduce the incidence of migraines in those who suffer from them; especially red wine and coffee. There is the well known phenomenon of the coffee migraine, which strikes those vulnerable to this particular migraine headache trigger after drinking it. If this sounds like you, you might just have to give up the habit – some even report migraines being triggered by tea. However, there may be other compounds in coffee which play a role in migraine onset other than caffeine itself and coffee is much better known as a trigger – it’s not for nothing that the phrase coffee house migraine was coined although rumour has it that it now applies to something else entirely!
If you are unfortunate enough to be sensitive to coffee as a trigger for your migraines, you’ll have to substitute your morning cup for herbal tea (or regular tea, if this doesn’t manage to bring on a migraine in your case). It can be tough to give up your morning coffee if you’re used to it, but as any migraine sufferer knows, anything which can give you relief from your migraines is definitely worth the effort. A cup of red zinger is certainly preferable to a coffee house migraine – although you can certainly still go to your favorite coffee house.
